After I spent numerous minutes praising the Gingerbread pancakes, Vidalia broke my heart. I recently went to Vidalia's for breakfast. If you'll remember, Vidalia's is a upscale, southern themed restaurant. It wouldn't normally fit into the hole in the wall category because its hole is the eastern end of the Cruise Ship Worthington. However, I like it. Scratch that. I liked it.
What used to be a unique hotel restaurant with a theme has now become an expensive La Quinta Continental breakfast with omelet bar. Thats not completely true. They have a menu but without gingerbread pancakes it might as well be a napkin for me to spit up into.
The food still tastes great, but without gingerbread pancakes, they're just a hotel restaurant now. Its sad to me.

You could console yourself with some tiramisu pancakes from Cafe Modern?
Seriously? Is that something you get at brunch on the weekends? That sounds awesome.
Cafe Modern has great lunch items. Also, have you tried M&M steakhouse? Not sure if it's still open, but it has great chicken fried steak. Have you been to Edelweiss? I'm not a fan, but many people are.
Alo, San Antonio Taco? They have tasty breakfast burritos.
One more- Margies is a great place!
I just learned about your blog and LOVE it. I've been trying to find hole in the walls in FW.
I have heard of Margies, M&M, and Edelweiss but haven't been yet. There's no excuse. I know I need to go. I hope there are some places in here you haven't been.
Thanks for reading.
You need to go more brunch places. And then let me know how the mimosas are at them. Or, better yet, let me know when you're going and I'll meet you guys out there. Here's what I know:
- Fred's supposedly has an AWESOME brunch on Sunday's.
- 8.0s is now serving brunch on Sundays.
- Jazz Cafe apparantly has a good brunch. These seem to only be on Sundays.
- Gaylord supposedly has a good one too. Let's hope theirs is on Saturdays because I'm not a "brunch once a week" type of girl. Just ask Marshall. Who doesn't like brunch???
I've considered the Fred's brunch but I have one problem with it, and I think that problem was addressed by the startlegram or FWweekly. Brunch is a yuppie invention and Fred's is a hole in the wall. I'm not saying I can't do yuppie, its just an unusual combo.
But you're right. Brunch is important and I need to focus on that. I think I may check out 8.0's soon though. I'll let you know when.
Just found your blog from a google search. GREAT idea! I'll be perusing the archives...
Deanna, if you're searching through the archives, don't be afraid to keep clicking refresh. It feeds my hit count ego. I hope there is something useful to you. Let me know if you have a different opinion of any of these places.
Thanks for reading.
