According to the Star-Telegram, Cafe Piola has suffered massive damage in an overnight fire.

If you'll remember, I went to Piola last fall and loved it. Hopefully they can get things going again although the owner doesn't appear too optimistic for a quick return. Good luck Piola.

Very sad, very sad indeed. We discovered Piola just a few months ago and really enjoyed its very homey and rustic approach to Italian food... as opposed to the Americanized, creamy-ized everything approach at just about every Italian chain/Joes on every block.
I certainly hope Piola rebuilds. Its patio looks pretty untouched, at least from afar.
I just found the place yesterday. Looks like they are rebuilding. Hurrah maybe I'll get a chance to sample their wares sometime in the near future.
