Park Hill Cafe

Softest Toilet Paper in Fort Worth. That's pretty much the entire review. Go for the food, stay for digestive purposes. I guess the location of the Park Hill Cafe (near colonial and TCU) requires toilet paper that the customers demand. It's like a roll of puppies.

Welp, I think I've sufficiently guaranteed a lifetime ban on membership at Colonial.

So how about some food reviewing?

The Mrs and I recently went to Park Hill Cafe for brunch (maybe I am Colonial material...) and had a chance to try it out for the first time. The brunch menu appears to be limited to more breakfast style foods than lunch style foods so that's what we had. In an effort to eat healthfully the Mrs tried the egg white / vegetable frittata which came with fruit. It was about as sufficient of a meal as you can guess. But it was reportedly tasted good. I refuse to eat eggs without the yellows unless its in a meringue format so I didn't try the frittata.

Instead, my meal was the daily quiche. The quiche du jour included chicken, roasted bell peppers, asparagus, cheese, and surpisingly, eggs. It was fabulous. Wow, talking about quiche and saying fabulous. Let me try wording this another way...

All that was left on the menu was egg pie so the Mrs ordered it for me while I was out changing my oil in the parking lot. It came with a roasted falcon cousin, mild habanero peppers, cheese, green stuff and chicks. It was cool. Would have been better with BBQ sauce.

The egg pie also came with one of the best hash brown sides I've had in town. It looked like it was served by a cafeteria lady (in the little mounds that you get when an ice cream scoop is used to serve food). But it was all hot, creamy and delicious. If you go, make sure you get the hash browns. The Mrs agrees that it was one of the best things on the plate.

So this all sounds good, but it gets better because along with all of the deliciousness, comes a basket of bread. It's a real basket that could hold all of your eggs at once. The waiter brought it around and let us pick out some stuff. I...uh...saw a guy get the cranberry orange scone and it was awesome...for him. But it all looked great so you probably couldn't go wrong.

Another trip for lunch or dinner is in order as I hear the food is a better deal at lunch and that the evening meals are what the place is really known for. Plus its reportedly BYOEW (Bring Your Own Expensive Wine). You are near Colonial.

Park Hill Cafe is located at 2974 Park Hill Drive, just east of University and North of TCU.

Let me know if you've been and what you think.

I'll post the cafe's website on the right for future reference but you can also click here: Park Hill Cafe.

I've always wondered about Park Hill Cafe, now it looks like I'll have to try it. I got some good laughs out of your 'egg pie' story. Recently I told my Dad I had quiche for breakfast and told me that men don't eat quiche, they eat egg pie...

We had breakfast there a couple days ago. Good food, good price, good service.

Not particularly conducive to kids. We live across the street and stop in ocassionally. I like the atmosphere. Not too fancy. I've never noticed the toilet paper, but I'll put that on my list of things to do.

Theresa, this is most likely not a good place for kids unless you like having your kids bug other people.

Thanks for reading.

Surprised to see you say it is not particularly kid-friendly. We have taken our kids there for many, many meals (brunch, lunch, and dinner - though not on the same day) since our 8 year old was an infant. They have a fantastic pimiento cheese sandwich at lunch, and I also can recommend the apricot scones at brunch.

Anonymous, I have no kids so please don't trust my statements regarding their happiness or safety. I was commenting on the clientele of Park Hill Cafe that, at certain times, may not care to see a child in the restaurant. Me, personally, love kids. I go to schools in the afternoons and pass out free candy.
