Congrats to Salsa Fuego

Texas Monthly's December issue will include a round-up of 50 great Mexican food joints in Texas.  Salsa Fuego is one of the Fort Worth restaurants (along with Benitos, Paco & John, Lanny's Alta Cocina, and Esparanza's).  But even more important, is that Texas Monthly has it as one of the TOP FIVE in the state.

Texas Monthly Preview

For those that are counting, that means we have a TOP FIVE mexican restaurant in Salsa Fuego, a TOP TEN new restaurant in the nation in Ellerbe's, and a TOP PIE at Paris Coffee Shop.  And that's just scratching the surface here.

Congrats to Salsa Fuego and Carlos for all of his hard work in putting together such a great place.  For those of you who have been loyal visitors for awhile, say goodbye to available seating for awhile.

Thanks to a loyal reader for the heads up on this.

Congratulations to Salsa Fuego! I knew that they were something special from day one. And thanks to you, FWHITW, for turning me on to them!

Selfish me thinks "oh crap, now it will be even more difficult to get a table!"

Congrats to Salsa Fuego!

I feel justified in my submission to Diner's Drive-In's and Dives.

And congrats to you for being one of the first to get the word out about this place!

Kimberly, I thought the exact same thing about seating. Maybe if enough people start eating there, they'll open up a bigger restaurant.

Callie, that sounds pretty good - but so does everything there. I've recently fallen in love with the grilled avocados filled with grilled chicken, fajita chicken, fajita beef, or honey chipotle shrimp...mmmmm....

Vespa was my informed reader that gave me the scoop on this, so thank you Vespa.

Michael, woot! indeed. Woot! indeed.

We went this week for lunch and waited an hour and fifteen minutes before the food came. Our service was terrible, we didn't have more salsa offered or our drinks refilled. I want to give them a second chance, but it will be a while.

Anonymous - I've received a lot of similar comments and hopefully they are working to deal with the influx of new visitors. Give them another chance but try going just outside the prime times for eating (4:30 am).

I hear they are expanding the restuaurant to add some new seats. Maybe they'll add some additional help as well. With all their success they should be able to afford it soon enough.

Thanks for reading.

Went to Salsa Fuego on 12/16/10. They opened at 12:00 after finishing their expansion. They've fit about 5 more tables into the seating area and plan to start closing everyone's tab at the table so there will be no line to pay. I noticed more waitstaff so I really hope that anonymous will give them a 2nd chance.

Success brings new challenges. I hope they don't lose what made them special. Good food. :)

KimberlyDi, thanks for the update. We should also all remember that the crowds will subside as all the newly acquainted get their fill and stop coming six times a week.
