The Cup

The Cup, the new Italian inspired coffee shop on Camp Bowie, has officially opened.  They've now been open for about a week and are working to spread the word.  A trusted reporter who refuses to let me call him friend stopped by this morning.  He says the drinks are good, the service is great and he hopes it hangs around.

I haven't been yet but I'll stop by soon to give you a full, detail-less report.  Until then, check it out and let me know what you think.  From what the FWHITW reporter says, The Cup would also like to remind you that they serve breakfast and lunch.  And for those of you with dogs, the patio is dog friendly.  The latte, not so much.

Right now they're open from 7 am - 2 pm but they expect to stay open later starting sometime soon.

The Cup is located at 3909 Camp Bowie.  This is the old Blue Bonnet Bakery location.

FWHITW has a reporter now? Pretty soon you will have a show on cable. Keep up the good work!

We've spared no expense here at the Underground Downtown Control Center of FWHITW. Ever since Rupert Murdoch began backing us, our financial situation has improved drastically. We also have a new technique for learning about breaking news.

Just kidding uncle Rupie.

Christina, I really like your blog too - how do you make it look so, not second rate like this thing? Email me at fortworthholeinthewall@yahoo.com

I really wanted to like The Cup, as it's right in my neighborhood. Sadly, it doesn't seem like it's my kind of place. Maybe I got spoiled by Avoca's comfortable surroundings, free WiFi, ample portions, reasonable prices, and sweet baristas.

The biggest disappointment at The Cup was the Artisan baked goods. Beware of this food when The Cup discounts it. This place could ruin Gwin Grogan Grimes reputation by selling what tasted like several-day old scones (at nearly $4 each).

The owner of The Cup is super nice though, and I really hope this place becomes a success. Perhaps it will. Like everything else along Camp Bowie, it feels like one of those "West-side lady" businesses that appeals to the well-to-do older woman and the wannabe Junior League 20-something. If you fit this demographic, pop in for a 3-sip/$4 latte while you shop along the Bricks at any of our number of lamp shade, photo framing, or antique chic boutiques.

Dear Anonymous,

So sorry to read of your unfortunate encounter with The Cup. We strive to make every customer feel comfortable and enjoy our fresh baked goods. We never sell anything past the suggested sell-by date from any of our vendors including Artisan Bakery. We are certain this is an isolated incident and want to make it right. We hope you will come back in and get a scone on us!

I have to agree with the last annon comment - I was a little disappointed. I was wanting a more "neighborhood hangout" vibe. I do hope it sticks around; it's just not my cup of joe.
